Cricket protein

Protein is one of the three macronutrients needed in our everyday diet, along with fats and carbohydrates. Because protein is used by the body for muscle synthesis, it is essential for maintaining lean body mass for endurance athletes whose muscle tissues are broken down during exercise. Protein also helps with feeling satiated, making it easy to control hunger and cravings.

Health Canadarecommends that an 18 year-old adult should consume 0.8g of protein per kg of body weight each day. For the athletic population, protein intake should range higher, about 1.2-2g per kg of body weight. For example, an athletic adult weighing 70 kg should eat between 84-140 grams of protein each day. It can be difficult to find quality sources of protein to fulfill our everyday needs, which is why Näak energy bars contain the best source of protein:crickets!

Näak energy bars carry 6-7 grams of protein in each bar, which comes from cricket powder! The advantage of including cricket powder is that, unlike plant-based protein, it is a complete protein, containing all the essential amino acids your body needs. Natural ingredients

It seems almost impossible to find energy bars with a list of recognizable ingredients. That’s why Näak energy bars were created with real and natural ingredients that you can pronounce, such as dates,cricket powder, and flaxseed. The sweetness from our bars come from dried fruits such as dates and raisin, and of course, maple syrup for the added Canadian factor! You can now satisfy your cravings without worrying about what you’re putting into your body.

Less than 200 calories:

A calorie is a unit of measure of energy, specifically the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by one degree Celsius. We need calories, which we get from food, to keep our bodies functioning. Calorie requirements vary from person to person depending on height, weight, age, gender, and activity level. You can approximate your daily needshere

You can divide your daily caloric intake as you desire, but typically, a healthy snack should contain anywhere between 150-300 calories, as snacks are not your main meal. At less than 200 calories per bar, a Näak energy bar is ideal as a filling snack between meals or after training.

5 grams of fibre

Fibre is a carbohydrate found in plant-based foods such as vegetables, fruit, grains, legumes, and nuts. The benefits of dietary fibre include maintaining a healthy body weight, lowering cholesterol levels, and decreasing the rise in blood sugar after high-carb meals. Requirements for men range from 30-38 grams a day while women need around 25 grams. With around 5 grams fibre, one Näak energy bar covers around 18% of our daily needs!

Gluten, dairy, and nut free

Näak energy bars are made fromcricket powder and other natural ingredients like dried fruits and seed butter, so most flavors are naturally gluten, dairy, and nut free. They are therefore convenient for most diets and suitable with most allergies and intolerances.

However, note that people allergic to crustaceans may be allergic to crickets as they have the same allergen: chitine.

When to eat

Näak energy bars are a perfect snack for any part of the day! Eatone after a workout to refill empty glycogen stores, as a 4:1 ratio of carbohydrates to protein 30 minutes after exercisehelps athletes store glycogen at an optimal rate. These energy bars are also perfect as justa delicious and healthy pick-me-up snack.
