Traversing The Kazan River - Expedition Akor Week 22

According to our friends, this week was beautiful. With plenty of heat and sunshine, it was a welcome change compared to the dreary weather of previous weeks. Étienne even went swimming to keep cool after spending an entire day in his underwear.

The team is very thankful for the very productive 10-hour canoeing days caused by the beautiful weather. This allowed them to catch up on some of the missing hours of travel time accumulated over the past few weeks. They hope to arrive at Aziz's lodge four days from now, where their improvised resupply will be waiting.

At the moment, our adventurers are traversing the Kazan River, which will eventually lead them to Aziz's lodge. From there, they should be able to reach Wollaston Lake in Northern Saskatchewan in 20 days.

Once again, the team was forced to change their route. For their new path, instead of taking a river to Black Lake, they will take a long chain of lakes which, according to their information, was last travelled in 1984. At this point, the team is quite used to adjusting to their route.

According to them, this change of route should save them about 250 kilometres of cycling afterwards. Caribou have been spotted in abundance, as well as some rare muskox sightings.

Additionally, the expedition members have noticed something else vital: the bustards have begun to migrate. This means, according to them, that autumn has officially arrived. Additionally, the larches are beginning to turn yellow, an autumn tale as old as time.
